Soybean Meal

      The staple  protein source of feed ingredients used in Thailand is soyabean meal. Current usage is slightly more than 2 million ton per year of which 1.5 million ton is imported,100,000 ton produced from local bean and the rest produced also by crushing factories from the imported bean.

      Regarding the  quality, according  to the feed quality  control act issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Co - operative B.E. 2525  stipulated that the minimum requirement of soyabeal meal are as follows :-

           Protein           min.        42   %

           Fat                max.         7    %

           Fiber             max.         8    %

           Moisture        max.       13    %

           Ash               max          8    %

    However in practical usage is far better than those stipulated by law. Following are the details of soyabean specification in commercial practice :-

NOPA  Trading rules and adjustments for quality :

Moisture -no penalty for 12.5 % or less. Excess moisture  2x delivered invoice price above 12.5 % and 2.5x delivered  invoice price above 13 % moisture.

Fiber  -no discount for +0.5 % in 44 % meal and  0.3 %   for each 0.1 % increase in fiber  (12 % moisture basis)

Protein - no discount for protein 0.5 % lower than specification,  Below that deficiency claim is 2x delivered invoice bulk  price per unit of protein  deficient  (12 % moisture basis) (Note : sample assays must be conducted in NOPA  approved  laboratory)   National Oil Seed Processors Association of The USA
